Te Manu (The Bird) is about people. Our ancestors would compare things in their natural world to people, recognising qualities they saw in themselves and others. Many of our old proverbs that are about people, use birds as a metaphor.

 

We explore these concepts and others through Te Reo Māori sung over a musical backdrop of dub step, house, and drum and bass fused with Polynesian rhythms that also reflect the Aotearoa Māori, Cook Island Māori and Tahitian Maohi ancestry of PAO members.

 

Te Manu is a modern exploration of these ancestral paradigms.
